Vanessa Fowlkes is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing therapy to mothers, tweens, and teens in the state of Texas. She earned her Master of Social Work from Baylor University and currently practices under the clinical supervision of Brenda Zavala, LCSW-S while working toward independent clinical licensure. Vanessa has training and experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and strengths-based approaches. She enjoys incorporating creative, interactive, and developmentally appropriate activities when working with younger clients.

Vanessa has a special passion for supporting mothers who may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stretched, or disconnected from themselves, as well as tweens and teens who are learning how to understand their emotions, build confidence, communicate more effectively, and cope with the challenges they are facing. She believes supporting children also means recognizing the important role their parents and caregivers play in their emotional well-being.

Outside the therapy room, Vanessa enjoys making memories with her husband and children. As a mom herself, she understands that family life can be meaningful, messy, exhausting, and beautiful, sometimes all at the same time.

“I want therapy to feel like a place where people can be themselves. For moms, I want you to have a space where someone is taking care of you for a change. For kids, I want therapy to be somewhere their perspective matters and where they can learn healthier ways to understand themselves and handle what life throws at them. It is a privilege to be invited into someone’s life during a vulnerable season, and my goal is to walk alongside you while we work toward changes that actually matter in everyday life.”
