Frequently Asked Questions

How does counseling work? What happens in a session?

Counseling sessions are what you make them. I will meet you where you are and we will work collaboratively to reach your identified goals. FIRST, you will schedule a free 15-20 minute consultation to review presenting concerns, goals for therapy, and discuss scheduling/rates. THEN, if you decide to move forward, we will then meet for an intake session. The intake session will be an opportunity for you to share the details of what has been going on and together develop a treatment plan for counseling. NEXT, following the intake session, we will most likely start off meeting weekly for your recurring counseling sessions to reach the identified goals and begin the healing process. These sessions will slowly taper in frequency as you begin to see and feel the progress. EVENTUALLY, counseling will come to an end as we reach the termination process. At this point we will both agree that you have the tools in your toolkit to face your current challenges and any future struggles that may come your way.

Why would I pay a counselor when I can just talk to my friends or family?

While friends and family are WONDERFUL people to keep in your support system, a counselor has specific educational training that may offer a new perspective that those closest to you cannot. Counselors can teach you coping skills and techniques to help you understand why you may be feeling the way you are, or process situations you have been through. It is also important to note that our counseling sessions are confidential and a completely judgement-free zone. Don't rush the process; schedule a FREE consultation when you are ready; but know that you don't have to suffer alone if just talking to friends or family is not helping you properly heal.

How do I know if I need counseling?

Counseling is for everyone! It's never too early or too late to begin counseling. We are all human and let's be honest, life gets tough sometimes. Even the best, most experienced, counselors out there seek their own counseling from time to time. If you are questioning or considering counseling, then there is most likely a reason. Let's chat to see if I'm a good fit, and if not, that's okay. We can work together to make referrals to providers that best meet your needs. The ultimate goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and on a path towards healing.

What if I'm too nervous, sad, or exhausted to get myself to an office for an appointment?

Don't worry! Life is challenging and sometimes our emotions get the best of us. This is why I offer online counseling sessions. Put the baby down for a nap, send the kids off to play in the other room, and get comfy in the most relaxing spot in your home. At the click of a button on your phone, laptop, or ipad, we can start this journey together.

Will my health insurance cover the cost of my session?

At this time I am an out-of-network (OON) provider and can provide you with a superbill to submit for possible insurance reimbursement. To see if you have OON coverage, go to our insurance company website or call the number on the back of your card. Sessions can be paid by Visa, American Express, Mastercard, or Health Savings Account.

What are your rates?

Intake sessions are $160 and individual counseling sessions are $135. Sliding Scale options are available upon request and further discussion.

What if I live outside of Texas?

As a clinical social worker, I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, therefore I can only provide clinical services to clients who reside in the state of Texas. I provide online counseling services though, therefore can work with ALL ladies throughout Texas no matter the city or town.

What are your hours of operation?

Sessions are scheduled by appointment only between the hours 10am and 6pm, Monday through Friday. At this time, I am accepting new clients for online counseling throughout Texas and in person sessions at an office located in The Woodlands, Texas. I try my best to meet you where you are and offer a variety of options to accommodate your schedule. Email is the best way to reach me and respond within 24 hours to all messages Monday through Friday. â€‹

What is the No Surprises Act?

The No Surprises Act is a federal rule requiring all health professionals (including mental health professionals) who are Out of Network Providers (meaning they do not accept insurance to cover up front costs for services) to provide clients with a Good Faith Estimate.
